MSDS DESCRIPTION
Super Epoxy® is a thick-film, 100% solids enforced, proprietary formula epoxy based polymer designed for use as a protective and decorative coating for aquatic environments. Super Epoxy is a two-component system: resin and hardener.

*Microban® antimicrobial product protection is engineered to protect products from bacteria, mold and in some cases algae that can cause stains, odors and product deterioration. Microban protection is not designed to protect users from disease causing microorganisms. All of our Super Epoxy top coat products contain Microban.

As of April first 2011, we will be switching over to a new FLORA MICROBIAL OIL, which will replace our soybean formula for the resins. This new revolutionary resin will be the same, you will not be able to smell taste or see any different from the old resin. It is slightly stronger and less of enzymes, so it is even more environmentally safe. Same clarity and still cleans with Denatured Alcohol. Nothing has changed just a better formula blend. Soybean has gone up 43% and is controlled by the government telling farmers what to grow. Also the stock market setting the price and Wall Street plays with the economy to much to set certain prices. The Flora Microbial Oil is not regulated by the government or Wall Street and there is an endless supply. So the new resin will even be better and more abundant. All new testing by independent certified test facilities shows the new resin is exactly the same or slightly better.

Developed by a lamination engineer also a NSF / ANSI Instructor / Tank & containment certified. Prior to starting ORD Mr. Newland worked in Germany for the Government developing Synthetic Graphite products for aircraft, which inspired him to develop the strongest epoxy resins in the world & the only company to develop odorless & non-toxic epoxies. He also developed a fiberglass matting with polymer string inter woven in the mat, making it the strongest mat made. All formulas are owned by Thomas L. Newland. Thru the years we developed the Build Systems for Industrial tanks, which were then incorporated into the swimming pool industry. We are the only company to use all industrial grade materials in the pool industry. All your 1-piece fiberglass pools or resurfacing companies for pools use marine grade or BOAT BUILDING MATERIALS WHICH DO NOT STAND UP TO INDUSTRIAL GRADE MATERIALS. They are cheaper and do not pass government inspections for strength or durability. (See article written by Thomas Newland for the Environmental & polymer publications (ARTICLE – The New World of Polymer). We call it the World’s Strongest Pools, Tanks, Basements, Decks & Bomb shelters all made of epoxy & fiberglass matting. We actually let you beat it with a sledgehammer and challenge any other company to do the same. No company has accepted our challenge yet. All our products are tested at Sherry laboratories and Pacific International.

APPLICATION METHOD:
With a high yield polymer such as Super Epoxy, it is a 100% epoxy with titanium, for better durability & flexibility. With polyester, fiberglass, concrete or plaster coatings (when rolled or sprayed) dry from the bottom up, which cause hydration which is water, air and metals airing outward, pushing on the new coating that has been applied, causing pin holes to appear, causing the new coating to de-laminate. With Super Epoxyresin it is one of the only coatings that films from the top and dries downward, making it a non-porous material, stopping a portion of the hydration. The N.A.P. matting seals the concrete, steel and fiberglass permanently, stopping back penetration. Also, Epoxy is one of the only engineered materials that will bond to concrete. Polyester or regular fiberglass does not bond to concrete. Sawpaint removes this type of system all the time.
Roll entire pool or tank and repairs, a 3/8" short nap. Enamel type or phonemic core roller may be used. Mix unit with an electric mixer & ½ unit per person roll applied. Research found recently any material sprayed becomes porous.

TEMPERATURE REQUIREMENTS:
For optimum application, handling and performance, the material and surface shall be between 50° to 90° F.  For application, handling and performance below 50°F., contact Sawpaint technical support services for recommendations and instructions. The substrate shall be dry and the temperature should be at least 5° F. above the dew point.

STORAGE TEMPERATURE:
Minimum 50° F. and maximum 80° F.

SHELF LIFE:

Endless when stored at recommended temperatures.

MIXING RATIO for RESINS & HARDENERS:
All NAP Build resins & hardeners are 4 parts of resin to 1 part of hardener & are color coated with red labels.

Primer resin & primer hardener are 1 part of resin to 1 part of hardener, and the hardener must be mixed prior to mixing in the resin, due to additives separating in the hardener while setting. Color coated in green & yellow labels.

Super Epoxy for topcoats on pools, tanks, floors & basements are 2 parts of resin to 1 part of hardener. Color coated in blue labels or color of the coating.

NSF & NSI products approved for drinking water, biological & FDA 4 parts of resin to 1 part of hardener.

Trowel mixes are 2 part resin to 1 part hardener (Made at factory).

If you’re not sure match colors & read the label on the container.

Pour the hardener into the resin and then mix the combined compound at approx. 350 rpm for 2 to 3 minutes.

HANDLING:
Store at moderate temperature (65°- 85° F. prior to mixing).

SURFACE PREPARATION:
All surfaces shall be clean and dry, free of dust, dirt, oil or any other foreign matter. Steel surfaces shall be abrasive blasted to SSPC SP-5, or NACE #1 "white metal" finish with a minimum 2.5 mil surface profile (surface etching). Concrete surfaces shall be abrasive blasted (brush-off blast), mechanically abraded or etched with acid and neutralized. All protrusions such as mortar spatter and fins shall be removed by grinding.  Repair cracks by epoxy injection or by routing and sealing. Holes, spills, and cracks shall be filled with recommended filler. For additional information regarding surface preparation specifications and techniques, please contact Sawpaint.

Mechanical Properties Test Results

Our factory
recently produced several fiberglass reinforced, laminated sample sheets and presented them to an independent testing laboratory* in order to measure their mechanical properties.

The sample sheets were produced using the same techniques as are used in the field by our technicians and customers, and consisted of the following “lay-up” properties:

·Sample “1”              1 Woven + 1 Stitch Fiberglass Mat
·Sample “3”              3 Woven + 1 Stitch Fiberglass Mat

The purpose of the testing was to compare the relative mechanical properties of the old polyester & vinyl ester resin system to our new and predominately, non-toxic epoxy resin system.

Numerous samples were subjected to repetitive testing, however, for the sake of brevity; we have presented the information using a compilation of the “average values” contained in the report.
